2 NIGERIANS ARRESTED FOR IMPERSONATION

A Nigerian national Vivian Sadija Imran together with her 24 year old Husband Prince Joel (accomplice) are in police custody for allegedly impersonating about 20 ministers of state to defraud more than 500 Ghanaians of over GHC100,000. The duo used names and photographs of Ghanaian ministers of state to create multiple Facebook accounts and pretended to be the ministers. Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, Minister for Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture, Shirley Ayorkor-Botchway, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Henry Quartey, Deputy Minister of National Security and Dominic Nitiwul, Minister of Defence, were among the most frequently names used by the suspects to defraud their victims.

Coronavirus Deaths In US Hit 100,000

The US has passed 100,000 deaths in the coronavirus outbreak in less than four months. It has seen more fatalities than any other country, while its 1.69 million confirmed infections account for about 30% of the worldwide total. The first US infection was reported in Washington state on 21 January. Globally there have been 5.6 million people recorded as infected and 354,983 deaths since the virus emerged in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year. The US death toll stands at 100,276, according to Johns Hopkins University in Maryland, which has been tracking the pandemic. It means that around as many Americans have died from Covid-19 than from the Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan wars combined. But on a per capita basis the US ranks ninth in its mortality rate behind the likes of Belgium, the United Kingdom, France and Ireland, according to the university. Source:BBC

Coronavirus: 186 New Cases Count Hits 7,303 With Recoveries 2,412

Ghana has 186 new COVID-19 cases to put the current confirmed case count to 7,303, the Ghana Health Service has announced. On the official website of Ghana Health Service, 2,412 persons who tested positive for COVID-19 earlier have also recovered. This implies that as of the last update, 95 more persons have recovered from the novel  coronavirus. Death toll still stands at 34. The current total active cases stand at 4,857. The Ghanaian Health officials have so far conducted 205,890 COVID-19 tests. Per the regional update, the Ghana Health Service  website also announced on May 27, 2020, that, the Greater region has recorded 140 of the new cases, followed by the Central region with 23 new cases. The Ashanti region recorded 14 new cases, with the Eastern Region recording 9 new cases. The Greater Accra region still leads the regional confirmed case count chart with 5,148 cases. 93% of University Students wants Universities to re-open – survey report reveals

More than ninety percent of University students in Ghana wants government to ease restrictions to enable them go back to school. This was revealed through a survey by a senior research fellow at the Centre for Social Science Research(CSSR) at the Kumasi Technical University(KsTU), Dr Sarpong Smart. The conclusion was drawn from an online survey of 2670 students from the three steams of delivery in the Kumasi Technical University (ie. Regular, Evening and Weekend). Early March, 2020, the President, Nana Akufo-Addo locked down schools and churches, placing a ban on social gatherings across the country. This was done to as a means to disarm the coronavirus pandemic. Two covid19 patients have been reported to have escaped after their test results proved positive in the Northern region The Northern Region Health Directorate Dr. John B. Eleeza, indicated that the two patients escaped last week Tuesday, May 19, 2020 According to him, a search has been mounted to spot the missing patients but all effort to trace their whereabouts has since proved Futile. Dr. John B. Eleeza revealed that the missing patients were among other 10 samples which were sent to KCCR for test on Wednesday, April 22, 2020. He stated after the test results came in on Friday, May 15 their trace was not able to be found. Several incidents have already been reported as Covid19 patients escaped from isolation centers and people have therefore blamed it on how patients become afraid of stigmatization
